On 5th September Pinterest announced the launch of an exciting new Google Chrome extension module. We discuss this new module here and how it can help your business.
What is Pinterest?
Pinterest is an image based social media channel, which allows users to create their own pinboards full of the images they like. Many will be from their own business, but lots of images added (called pins) will be from other sites. Established in March 2010, Pinterest is now the 26th most visited site in the world and presents a major source of traffic opportunity for many businesses.
What does the new Google Chrome Extension do?
Here are some of the functions of the new Google Chrome extension:
Each new window users open creates an inspiring multi-coloured pin (image)
Pins are tailored to the user’s preferences (e.g. technology, art, celebrity, etc.)
There’s built in calendar functionality to help you plan your day more efficiently
Click in the pin to learn more, e.g. the website it resides on
Re-Pin the Pin yourself on your own pinboard so you can always find it easily
Use the pin-it button provided by the extension to pin images you find on the Internet. This will be inbuilt into your browser toolbar
